The "rules" for halo 3 online!!!????

ok, im sick of being the guy that gets beaten down first when i know i hit him first and he should have died, you all know what im talking about. someone please explain to me miselanious rules or tips, that re not obvious, to have a better game. for instance, in ranked games, if i quit a game, does my exp go down, my rank, or both!!!??? some body please explain to me these things ecspecially the latter or maybe even find a bungie site that explains it, any whays please help my fellow gamers. halo3rocks
