What is wrong with my halo 3 disc?

When I try to play it, usually my Xbox 360 reads the disc as a DVD and it doesnt play. But i have many other games that does not have the problem. (Madden, NBA Live, Call of duty, Assassins creed, etc.) But it does work eventually, I just have to open and close it a couple of times. What would be wrong?

probably has a scratch on the disc so it messes up

most likely the disc, try cleaning with a cotton cloth. If you are not afraid of risk, rub a thin layer of toothpaste on it and let the disc sit for 30secs. the wipe off with cloth. Another method is to put disc in toilet(yes i know insane, but works) and flush with the silver side up. with the water running through the hole. let air dry and try again. Its all i know
