what's so special about recon armor in halo 3 and why should i care?

what's so special about recon armor in halo 3 and why does EVERYONE want it so bad, you still die at the same rate as other armor sets, so wtf is so special about recon armor?
i doesn't even look cool, but the armor i want is the unknown 1 and rogue as seen here http://teammilestone.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/armor.jpg anybody know how to unlock those 2?
