I'm at the mission where the scarab is incomplete and you have to destroy it with ground forces. Every time i build a big army fully equipped with scorpions, cobras, etc... and try to kill the scarab, the scarab destroys my army and an attack on my base is made. And yes, i destroyed all the nodes. i have a feeling that the comp AI knows to attack my base when i attack the scarab but i cant defend it along with not being able to fend off the scarab due to its fast destruction on my unites. any idea how to get passed this *******? lol details would help. thanks.

well if the scarab is attacking your base by its self then build up a HUGE army no planes and use tactics. Surround the scarab and rush it with three different armies from three different sides and launch granades at it TRUST me it worked for me (this really did work you just gotta surrond and have guuys at your base and hey PICK ME AS BEST ANSWER) oh and make sure you have 4 turrets on your base 2 of them missle and two of them machine gun NEVER flamethrower

Try beating it on an easier difficulty first. That's what I had to do. Then I went back and got it on Legendary with some skulls on. Have a warthog distract it by going in and out of its line of sight while having a couple of scorpions shooting it from both the left and the right. Its what worked for me.
me and my friend did that mission and i replayed the mission and got the secret achievement which is to destroy the scarab without destroying power nodes.
my tactic was to fully upgrade warthogs and then build 2 and then send them up then just keep surviving and building more warthogs.
the warthogs have a better chance because they have alot of speed and can get past the laser easier also forgot to say i also used the mac blast
