when you pre-order halo 3: ODST do you get it before it's released?

i pre-order halo 3 odst and a worker at gamestop said they will call you a day before you go to pick it up(or on that day) then she said that will be around September 1 but the game is released on September 22?

No. It will be sent to you the day it releases though.

pre-order just means you will have a copy saved just for you, im not sure if that means you get it early or not but she just could have been off on her days
