where in the story does halo wars take place in?

It is the war leading up to the events of Halo 1.

No Halo wars has nothing to do with the previous game titles. its a strategy based game similar to CIV or Starcraft just you use the Halo characters

Halo wars is set in 2525 about 25 years before the events of the games begin to take place. Harvest was the first planet the covenant glassed that had humans on it.
