Why Is Halo 3 Messing Up While Playing Matchmaker on Xbox Live?

Ok Guys, So I Just Got Halo 3 And Xbox Live. My First Couple Of Matches Went Great. Then All Of A Sudden The Game Started Messing Up. For Example, While Chasing Another Player, The Player Would Jump To A Different Position. Then My Timer Would Stop Counting Down, And I Could Not Kill Anyone No Matter How Many Times I Killed/Hit Them. And then All Of A Sudden I Would Just Die....Could Someone Please Explain To Me What The Hecks Going On?! Its Really Annoying Me And Is Costing Me XP Points....Plz Help,

You, sir, are expiriencing what is known by all as Death Lag ur probably thinking Ohz Noez, Def Lag! but here are ways to stop it:
1. Make sure nothing is being downloaded on your PC
2. Make sure that nothing is interfering with your connection
3. Make sure that it is not your connection that is bad, cuz some one else in your game may have a trailer park connection
