Will I be able to use unlockable armor on Halo 3: ODST multiplayer?

I haven't gotten an Xbox 360 yet, but I plan to, and by the time I do, Halo 3: ODST will be out, which I plan to get. It comes with a second disk which includes Halo 3's multiplayer in its entirety, including all the DLC maps like the Mythic pack. I was wondering if I'll be able to use the kinds of armor that are unlocked through Halo 3 such as the Rogue or Hayabusa armor on Xbox Live if I'm using the disc from Halo 3: ODST.
I want to know if I'll be able to use said armor WITHOUT getting Halo 3 as well.

Obviously you would need to have unlocked the armour on Halo 3, I'm guessing it will link back to your Halo 3 save to see if you have unlocked them. If it didn't then Bungie would get a lot of angry comments So don't worry if you have unlocked them.
Btw the multiplayer is exactly the same as Halo 3 apart from the new Firefight mode so the armour should be unlocked.
