Would I need Xbox Live if I'm getting Halo 3 with my Xbox 360 for Christmas?

Xbox 360 Rules!

I'm getting an Xbox 360 60GB for Christmas with Halo 3 and I'm wondering if I would need Xbox Live to truly experience everything it has to offer. Also I'm wondering if there is another way to connect an Xbox 360 to the internet Wirelessly besides the Xbox 360 Wireless adaptor.

- You don't necessarily need x-box live but it would definitely be better and worth it. I know cause I also have X-box live with Halo 3 too and it's better playing with more and other people than it is alone or with "some" friends.
- And yea you can connect your "ethernet cable"(that comes with the x-box 360) to the xbox and into your computer! from there you can choose to automatically input the information( IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway, DNS Server 1&2)or manually find it!
Hoped helped :) Good Luck!

I really think the answer to your question depends on you, and your gaming preference in regards to online game play. Take my brother and I for example, he loves to play online while I don't. I will say that I feel like I got what I wanted out of my copy of Halo 3 playing offline by myself, and with friends.

When I was curious about XBOX Live I took advantage of their free trial period. You are allowed one month of free XBOX Live gold membership when you first sign up for XBOX Live. Use that trial period to figure out if you'll need to pay for a membership. Also, you'll get a 48 hour free XBOX Live trial card with your copy of Halo 3 (I did with my standard copy of the game).

In terms of connecting your XBOX 360 to the internet wirelessly, you will need the XBOX 360 Wireless adaptor. I tried several times to get my XBOX 360 to connect to my wireless network with a USB wireless adapter and the hardware just doesn't recognize the device. I've looked for Nyko, Madcatz or Inetec to have made a third party wireless adaptor, but they haven't. It's not like the XBOX 360 one is cheap either, they are very expensive still for being on the market as long as they have.

Personally, I think that Xbox 360's without Live is very boring. With Xbox Live, you can download videos, music, free game demos for all new games, game trailers, movies, television shows, play with people all over the world, make friends, send messages and pictures, instant message, even video chat. I think it is worth every penny, and I enjoy every minute of it. It is also very cheap. And a new 360 comes with 3 months of free Live anyways. So all you need to do is connect it to the internet. And no, there are only two ways to connect to the internet. Plugged in to a router or modem, or wirelessly with the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter.

1 month is only 7 dollars
3 months is only 12 dollars
and 1 year is only 50 dollars

Hmm you don't need xbox live for now

But when you sign up for an xbox live it gives you 1 month gold trail
But if you don't go online as much don't bother signing up you'll waste the 1 month.

No there is not any wireless way you have to buy an xbox 360 wireless adapter or you can buy an ethernet cord which is cheaper but it depends how long your modem is from the xbox 360.

Well hope that all

Well, that all depends on you. If you want to play online than, yeah. You would need Xbox Live to experience everything. However, you can just play offline stuff like story mode, map creating, etc. It's more fun with Xbox Live. By the way, you still need Live if you want to connect your Xbox to the internet. You need both actually.
