Xbox 360 Microphone Question EASY! Halo 3.?

Ok don't laugh at me but I am so new to playing Xbox 360 and Halo 3 altogether. Anyways I have a few questions. I'm playing halo 3 and I am wearing my mic. I can hear everyone but no one can here me. I've tried it both ways with the orange part (where the volume is) showing, and the orange part gone. My question is which one is mute and which one is un-mute? Also, can you tell me how to make it so they here me? I'm playing on xbox live. (halo 3)

Mine doesn't have a green part. It only has an orange, the same color as the whole volume thing.
Oh nevermind there is a green part! oops. Also when you are waiting to play a game with other members and you can see the speaker by their name if they are on voice chat. Well mine doesn't do that. All it shows is the for dashes in a circle and the first one bolded (to show I'm the 1 player on the xbox console) Help?

you need to have the green part (where the volume thing is located) showing. also you an try speaking louder, some mics are not very sensitive, more sensitive mics are the wireless ones. just talk louder and have the green part showing.

When the green coloring is showing it means you're good to go. The problem may be in the mic part of the headset. I had this same problem and ended up buying a new headset. You could probably get it checked out and fixed at a local music store. Good luck!
