XBox 360: Should I buy Halo 1 Or Go Straight to Halo 3?

I recently played Halo 3 for the first time and I really enjoyed it but because I've played Halo 3 for only a few hours ever, I don't really get the story line. Do you think I should start buying them from Halo 1 or go straight to Halo 3?

The story is really impossible to follow anyway. I would just get Halo 3.

yeah well the first has an okay storyline but not a good multiplayer

2nd has a good story line -and a HARD multiplayer

3 has a good storyline and a multiplayer in which any skill of player has a chance against veterans

The Halo series suck really bad at storywise. So it's better you go straight to Halo 3, as it's better visual, guns and gameplay overall.

You should go through the series backwards (no joke). Halo 3 is the shortest and the easiest. If you really enjoy this and move on to Halo 2, the environments will be a bit less lush and it will be slightly more monotonous and hard. If you liked that, then move on to Halo 1. I haven't played Halo 1 firsthand, but I saw most of the game by watching my dad play. I can't make a fair statement about the difficulty w/o playing it, but there are a lot of copy-pasted rooms and the majority of the game is inside (you will only know why this is bad after you've played halo 2). If you really liked halo 2, then you should move on to halo 1.

I would start with Halo and work your way up to Halo 3

The story is great and the original is still a FANTASTIC game!

Well if your a orderly fashion kind of guy than get Halo 1

well try buying halo 1 first. it will give you most of the story. but if you really want a fun game, skip to halo 2 or 3. you can read the books to see wat happens in halo 1. three books: halo fall of reach, halo the flood, halo "something" (sorry i forgot the title) but the flood one is basicaly the whole story of halo 1.

Well all three Halos have a very big story mode plus the storyline is somewhat hard to follow, and i wouldn't buy and play the whole Halo 1 just to know the storyline. You can search the web to find info about the whole storyline so i would just get Halo 3.

If you want to play then buy it IF you want to just know the story of hallow then start from 1.

This all depends on what you play games for, if you play for the storyline, start with Halo 1 and work your way through, if you play just for the heck of it, jump right into Halo 3, it's better anyway. The storyline is a little bit convoluted but if you play through a couple of times it becomes reasonably obvious (most bits anyway) and the bits that aren't said directly can be fairly easily inferred from what is said.
