Will someone help me level/rank up on halo 3 ?

Why won't it give me the Cavalier Achievement on Halo 3?
The Cavalier Achievement is Score over 15,000 points in the Campaign meta-game on the third mission, so I go to the level crow's nest (im pretty sure thats the third mission) I turn campaign scoring on and turn a few skull on and start the mission..when i finished the mission I had over 17,000...
