Can a silver xbox live membership allow you to play matchmaking in halo 3?

Nope, you need a gold account. If you look around, or in certian new games, you can get a 1 month free trial or 48hr trial of gold live... Even at stores that sell games you can get a few month live card...

no you need gold. And I say it's worth it too, I mean it's only $50/ year if you buy 12 months at a time.

well yes and no, no a silver membership will not let u play but say ur friend has a gold account, well you can sign in as a guest and play, u can do this with 4 other people(but just in Halo3)
