Can Halo 1 pc work for Garry's mod?

Well I don't know for sure if this would work but has anyone tried it and worked, or do you just need to buy counter strike or half life?

Garry's Mod only works with Source engine games, like Counter Strike and Half Life 2, but people make their own skins for the Source engine, and you can probably find Halo skins for free on Garrysmod.com.

If you can't afford source games right now, just download a bunch of models from the website so you can have shit to mess around with, good luck.
