Can i Download Halo 3 on my Xbox 360 Hard Drive?

if so, will i be able to play halo 3 WITHOUT the disc?

the only thing downloading a disc does, is reduce loading times, you still need the disc in the slot, otherwise copying games would be way too easy. Also the performance of the the game is not diminished, its faster and more responsive.
