honestly, you wont even care about the story, at least i didnt, i just killed stuff 
... to be honest, you might not have a connection with the characters as much like Johnson, but go for it dude, its still good... no matter the amount of hate it gets for being old, halo is a good game, and a pioneer

Yeah the story is pretty simple if you havetrouble understanding just look at sone youtube videos or read on wikipedia
