Do i have to play halo 1 and 2 to understand halo 3?

not really, no, because there isnt much of a (worthwhile) plot to begin with. Single-player exists solely to prepare you for multiplayer (which is why I dont like it)

only really Halo 2 and youll get the beggining a little better haha
