No. Halo 3 is going to be for the X-Box 360, not the original X-Box. You do not need a hard drive to play 360 games on a 360, you only need a hard drive to play the original X-Box games. However, you will need a hard drive to save your game. Or a memory card. Since I have a hard drive with mine, I've never even bothered to check if they even have memory cards, but I'm sure they do.
