Does a scratch on the disk of halo 3 stop you from doing xbox live?

Xbox live doesn't work anymore ever since I got this scratch. Is it my game or my computer

no mine was scratched and i still got to go on xobox live but it stopped me from beating the game

idk. mine got scratched and i couldn;t do some campaign levels
