Your skill (number next to your name in ranked playlists) changes depending on which type of ranked match you are playing.

I'm a 16 in Lone Wolves and only a 12 in Team Slayer, your rank goes up based on how many games you win of each kind.

Any win or top-half placement on any game mode will give you 1 exp which carries on to your total record linked to your gamertag.

You could do 5 Lone wolves and place 3rd in each, 2 team slayers that u win and 1 team objective that u also win and you'd get 8exp

If your playing ranked, and you win, you will gain EXP. And sometimes a level.

If your playing social, you get just EXP

Your rank doesnt matter in social because its "social" and has nothing to do with "ranked" games. Get what Im saying here?

You have RANKED
Then you have SOCIAL

Custom games dont give you anything.

GOOD luck!

All of you exp adds up together. Heres a link that shows how much exp you need to level up

http://halowiki.net/p/Ranks

If you win a game you get 1xp

If you quit a game you lose 1exp

On weekends they have "double exp" whitch means if you win you get 2xp and if you quit you lose 1

If you lose you don't lose any exp

Your experience points add up no matter what you play. Your levels are based on skill points in a particular match. Your skill points are what are different in each gametype (just like Halo 2). It will always show your highest level though.

Example: I'm a level 43 in lone wolves, but I'm a much lower level in Team Slayer. If you go into my GT, it will tell you I'm a 43.

EDIT: Someone gave me a thumbs down, but I just worded it wrong. Take a look at this link.
