halo 1 cheat in vista ?

i have vista and i got halo 1 but when ever i try to do the -devmode thing but it says PROBLEM WITH SHORTCUT ,so how to i cheat then

Try Reinstalling the game. Make sure that the original shortcut of the game or the game files aren't altered in any way.
