Halo 1 combat evolved PC launchs/boots into a black screen?

Halo 1 combat evolved PC launches/boots into a blank black screen and then crashes to my desktop a couple of seconds later every time. I've recently updated my graphics card drivers, reinstalled it/patched it and it still dosnt work.

GeForce 1GB 9500GT
4GB ram
Windows XP service pack 3
