HALO 1 combat evolved PC server question? retrying?1234?

whenever i make a server for my halo 1 game no one is ever able to join, its not because they cant see it either. ive had friends come to the server and try and join but it always says that it is retrying the server and it does that 4 times and then a pop-up says "unable to join server"
does anyone have anything i can do to fix this? thanks

First, make sure the firewall isnt blocking inbound and outbound connections. Also, if u have a router, go to its admin panel and use port forwarding to open the port used for the dedicated server. Finally, go to ipchicken.com and give the IP that you see on their to your friends.
