Halo 1 help with internet?

omg this is soo frustrating cause i really want to play halo=[


any way..
i have virginbroadband 512kbps
and my comp is qualified to run halo but when i tryand play halo online it just wont let me .. if i create my own game it lets me join but no my friends and when i go to the server place to join random games after like 10 seconds it comes up with an message saying

error contacting the gamespy master server

is it sumtin to do with the ports?


plz help me?
