Well, if you experienced Halo 2 and 3, you'll notice a big difference in AI (enemies), and the graphics of course. But overall, I think Halo 1 was one of the best games ever due to its originality and overall fun factor. Along with a kickass campaign, the multiplayer is extremely fun with friends and online (I recommend PC version because xbox version doesn't have online). You should play Halo 1 before playing Halo 2 and 3 though.
