Halo 3 "Destroyed Vehicle!" Medal?

Is it truly impossible to get the "Destroyed Vehicle!" medal in Halo 3? Has every possible way to destroy a vehicle been tried in order to obtain this medal? I was thinking it might be possible to melee a vehicle until it is destroyed, and then you get the medal, but do you think that would work? Or is it just that it can never be obtained?
