HALO 3!!! I need flood help!!?

Ok, im in the part where im in the flood cave where i hav to find cortana (i beat this level already but it didnt save so now i need to blow through it as fast as i can) and the flood is over whelming in many places. are there any suggestions for defeating them?

find the flame thrower and some fire greades and BURN them all!

you need to get the shotgun then shoot them in the belly
