i just got xbl yesterday and i tried out halo 3,i just played social matches (i dont really care about becoming the best,just for the fun of it,i only get like 2hrs to play anywayz)but i was wondering what a ranked playlist is? what's the difference? also what's a DLC OR SOMETHING map? there's another section with that and it says unless you have a DLC map or something you can't get in,and can you.create a match? like be the host of it on xbl? i just started so idk that much thx guyz

A Ranked Playlist is different from Social Matches because they are "Ranked". In Social Matches you can only gain "Exp". But, in Ranked you can gain "Exp" and "Skill" (1-50).
I don't play DLC much but, it is a playlist for games such as Grifball, Zombie, CTF, Etc.
You need to download the Heroic Map Pack and I think you have to complete Campaign too.
About starting your own game. You can start a Custom game were you decide the map, weapons, time, etc.
Just go to Custom Matches instead of Matchmaking.
