Halo 3 question about swords and shotguns

Which is more effective sword or a shotgun???
yeah lately ive been feeling the shotgun more an more, i mean i ussually have no problem even taking people with sowrds down when i got my shottie and i love how much faster it can be pulled out versus the sword. but i wasnt positive.
Oh waw Bleach ill definately consider that especially since i'm already on an MLG team and were actually decent I mean we didn't do too badly in Orlando, hit me up sometime gamertag is Soulcast.

Def shotgun.
it has some range, it can one hit kill at point blank, and it can counter sword easily, but yeah if you want to get good at halo, you have to start using the battle rifle. =]
