halo 3 question. very important. please answer?

i decided to play halo 3. haven't played for a few months. i play some xbox live games. and get a promotion to recruit. last time i played i was a lieutenant. my service record says i'm a lieutenant, my service record has nothing wrong with it. what's wrong and what do i do?
what the hell kind of an update was that. can you or someone post an official link talking about it.

You are experiencing the new title update.You now have a rank that is based off your xp.Your main level will still be the same.You can still gain skill points.Your overall level will still show in your service record.But you will now have a rank based off your xp in that certain playlist.
