Halo 3 Questions! First-time player?

First time 360 player so i dont know much about Halo 3. After beating the campaign what are some other ways I can entertain myself? I dont have xbox live nor do i have another controller... Are there any modes or other things I can do...? I don't really understand the custom games...

You ca go to forge and put a bunch of things on a map and fool around which is really fun, and after forge you can go to theater and watch what you did on forge and take screenshots of some funny things, or you can just call a friend over and ask him to bring a controller and you can play slayer and infection and capture the flag on custom games. And if you do get XBOX live you will not want to stop playing halo online.

Halo thrives on multiplayer experience. I'm pretty sure all the other modes (although you can still play them) besides campaign are multiplayer based.
