Halo 3 skill leveling?

hey, i got a BIG problem on my halo 3 skill level. just about everyone i know is like a level 30 something, but i level up extremely slow. i won 5 games in a row as MVP and only gained one level in team slayer. HELP!!!

I read in a bungie article that the leveling system is different. That in order to level up...you have to show signs of you significantly getting better. I would give you the article but I cant find it anymore. I am not sure if this is really accurate because I play level 40s and 50s and most of the time they suck. Just keep on playing or get in a party that is really good so you will win must of the time. I am only level 23 but I mostly social matches with my friends. Also to remember to look at how much experience you need to level to see how much experience you are getting when you win. Sorry I couldn't give a really clear answer.
