Halo 3 sword duels?

whenever i get into a sword duel in halo 3 online matchmaking, i usually come out the loser. is there any trick like maybe i should melee instead of lunging or something?

Theres many tricks to it. I am a sword master online. A lot of general tactics, is to walk backwards as they run at you, once your aimer is red, jump and lunge, it usually catches them off guard. Another is when you both clash together when you both lunge and parry *you both lose half health* you have two options that help a lot. You can either:
A.) side step and swing *I don't know why, but they usually don't see it comming*
B.) press B, it seems like you react faster that way.

What I do allot is to press the - B - button instead after you clash sword with an opponent online.
