Halo 3 Vidmaster Challenge: Classic....?

i wanted to understand this challenge a little more before i attempt it. i know it says "Finish any level solo on Legendary, on LIVE, with no shots fired or grenades thrown" but can i "Beat down" enemies? what about vehicles can i "Splatter" enemies too, and if the vehicle has a weapon on it, like the Ghost, can i use it?

everything except the last one with shooting on vehicles. but splatter works and so does beat down.
