HALO Movie?

i've heard there's supposed to be a movie coming out based on the HALO franchise? is this true? if it is, what studio is producing it and when is it expected to be released?

It has been in talks for years. I believe New Line owns the license to the material. Peter Jackson was supposed to Direct it, until he had a spat with New Line over Lord of the Rings revenue. Now the project has been shelved for the moment while they look for another director. I personally want Peter Jackson to direct it because I know he'll spare no expense and create the most beautiful action packed movie possible.
