How do people discover Halo 2 super jumps?

How do people discover the super jumps in Halo 2? They don't seem like something a person would do by accident so how are they found?

I suppose someone was just playing a regular game, (or one made so they could look for glitches) and screwed around, and fell on some incomplete geometry in the map, and they flew into the air, and the phonmenon was born.
