how do you enter a tank in halo 1?

i have spent hours trying to enter a tank, but i cant get in i have pushed the button it tells me to,to enter the tank but it doesnt work. Is there a certain side to get in on. I can get in a warthog,a ghost,and a banchie but no tank.

LOLZ dude is easy go to the left right of the tank and jump to the seat when a advice says u can enter enter to it, if u cant call the costumer what sells u the game it could be corrupted.
