How respawn points work in Halo 3 forge?

Ok me and my friend make 2 different bases on forge (one for him and me) then battle in custom games slayer. We set the game type to slayer on forge, but we cant get the respawn points right. We always spawn in the opponents base,. When you look at a respawn points info you can change it to Attackers and defenders and so on. Is red attackers and blue defenders? We really need help.

I think red is attackers but you can try it out, each go on a diff team and only have 2 spawn points and just figure which is which. I love halo 3 a lot.
