i cant find the skull in the covenant. halo 3?

i keep trying to get the halo 3 skull from the covenant level but everytime i go there its not there and the difficulty is on normal and everyone is telling me that the skull is in the covenant and i noe where to find it but its not there when i go there. does anyone no why?

Make sure you start the level from the very start otherwise it will not appear. Remember its the room where you can hear cortana talking to herself.
