i just got halo 3 and i just wanted to know when i pick up a skull do i have to...

...carry it with me till i finish till i finish the lvl?? or i can just drop it after i pick it up?

No sir you don't. Once you pick up the skull if it is a gold skull you pick it up, wait for the acheivment to come up, and then you can drop it. Or silver skulls you have to pick up, wait a sec, then drop. (no acheivement for silver). But if you want to check if you got the skull or not go to the campain lobby and hit X and your skull menu will appear. To get skulls you must start from the beginning of the level though, not rally points.
