In Halo 3 ODST if playing co-op will there be two rookies or something?

During the campaign if doing co-op during the times when you are just the rookie, will 1st and 2nd player both play as the rookie?

In ODST you and your partner will play as rookies. Unless you Pre-order ODST, then you can play as Sgt. Johnson. Have fun and look out for horde mode (its called something else for ODST.)

I thought in ODST for multiplayer you go through a different campaign with more than 2 ppl all of which are rookies or ODST solders but i could be wrong.
