Is halo reach before halo 1, 2 and 3?

Like were the spartans first to come out? Then master chief came? Someone explain the story line for me please lol. All the spartans died in reach and erghh what about the big bad master chief? where was he in all this?AHH!! so confusing lol

reach is before 1 2and 3. there was the spartan project (on reach) and then master cheif was the last to survive. hes not even alive in reach. hope that helps

Try reading the halo books their exreamely good and explain alot of the storyline. Annnyway Halo Reach is set before Halo 1, 2 and 3 and is set in the era before all of the other spartans died and master cheif was the only one left. So this one is like a prequal to the halo series.
