I think you can get skulls and get new armor styles.

nope. the unlockable helmets require higher skill level which you can only get from the ranked playlists which you have to have a month or more subscription to play.

yes, all you have to do is play the campaign and beat it to get a helmet, you can also get helmets with xbox live when you rank up to certain levels
