Is my Halo 3 EXP broken?

Hi, Ive had Xbox live for a few days now and my Exp is at 0 but somehow I've got the spartan graduate pin and ODST armor. I've won plenty of matches but my EXP is going nowhere...Also can your EXP go below 0 because I've quit from a few matches which might be why?
