Is there a way to mute the Halo 3 shooting sounds while still listening to music...

...on the Xbox 360? Recently I ripped a CD onto my Xbox 360 hard drive. The opening music track on the Halo welcome screen is muted and all but is there a way i can mute the entire game temporarily, but still hear the music im playing on the 360? I'd like to just listen to the music without letting the shooting sounds of Halo interfere.
