My halo 3 achievements don't work?

I have fulfilled a lot of halo 3 online achievements and i have not unlocked them, i have killed about 20 with a needler and not got the 5 kills achievement on on and offline, ive ranked up a few times and havent got the first rank up acheivement, are they still possible to get?
