need help with halo 1?

i just downloaded halo 1 and insteled it and when i run the game it says A problem occured initializing Direct3D. Hardware acceleration maybe disabled, please run DXDIAG whats that mean???

You need the update for Direct, just download it from the internet or look for Direct downloads
