On Halo 1 after the lift crashes down, where in the heck am I supposed to go?

I go to the room, kill those flood dudes, pull the switch and the lift comes crashing down! I looked all over the place, but theres like nowhere to go. Could someone please give me step by step instructions? (eg. turn left here open door etc..) Thanks alot!

I was stuck on this to 3 days ago it took me ages to find to way. when you find the first lift that crashes you're gone to far go back and there will be a hole in the wall you go through or something just before the path leading to the first lift, sorry this is a little vague, if you need it go to www.gamefaqs.com and get a walkthrough
