Playing Halo 1 on computer but keyboard is driving son crazy!?

Hey People!
I am not very savvy on the computer and was wondering if there is something I can buy to add to my computer so that my son does not have to use the keyboard anymore for his Halo 1 computer game?

Is it just as simple as buying a controller and hooking it up or do I have to get something just for Halo? Sorry if I don't know what I'm talking about because I don't, that's why you guys help us!!!

Yes it is.
Buy a Logitech Dual Analogue USB Controller. Most of these games are primarily designed for XBOX & PS3 these days so these type of controllers are perfect.

It should take no configuration other than plug it in and restart the computer. Though you can opt to personalize the controls in the Options menu of the game.

I find the keyboard controls easiest, but a gamepad can be purchased that plugs into a USB port and used to play the game. This is exactly like a console game controller which is easier for a lot of people.

You will usually have to go into the game's settings once you have the gamepad and set the controls to what is most comfortable to you, but this is easy to do.

You can actually use a wired xbox 360 controller as well, they go for 39.99 though.

Well my bro actually set up something where I could play halo 1 on the computer with a ps3 controller. (hes so nice) =) but if you go into options you can change whether you play on a controller or a keyboard and mouse. they have xbox360 controllers that can play on windows for about 39.99.
