what happend to the production of halo the movie?

a while back ive heard about a movie being produced and now i havent heard any new detials about it have they givin up on the production or due to lack of funds they had to stop making it for a while? and as you can see from me asking im a huge halo fan lol just curious if its gonna end up like avatar and take like 7 years to make haha

All the pre-production stuff from the Halo movie ended up getting used in District 9 instead. That's why one of the alien guns in that movie looked suspiciously like the Needler.

There's no current plans for a Halo flick, although the idea is still getting shopped around the studios from time to time.

I'm pretty sure they have enough funds from how well each of the Halo games sold. The problem is, Microsoft or Bungie whoever decides on making the film, doesn't feel like making it. So as of today the project is on HOLD. No one knows when or if they will even make the damn movie. If they do make the movie, they said it wouldn't be based off the game. Master Chief wouldn't be the main character. It would focus around the time of Halo and some other stuff happening during that time frame. This was said in an interview by the developers somewhere online. So don't get your hopes up.
